Shine during the day, visible pores and a tendency to blackheads are among the most common skin concerns we see. Carbon peeling is one of the treatments we offer for oily and uneven skin. Here is how it works and what to expect.
Why skin becomes oily
The amount of sebum the skin produces is influenced by genetics, hormones, climate and skincare habits. Sebum is not the enemy: it protects the skin. Problems arise when excess oil and dead skin cells build up in the pores.
How carbon peeling works
After thorough cleansing, our beauty therapist applies a special carbon mask with minerals and vitamins. Once it has dried, the mask is removed with our laser device. Your eyes are protected with cotton pads and laser glasses throughout. Finally, the skin is cleansed and hydrated.
Who may benefit
- clients with oily or combination skin
- those who want cleaner-looking skin and a more even tone
- clients looking for a treatment without lengthy downtime
Active skin infections, certain medications or very sensitive skin may mean that another option is more suitable. We check this at the consultation.
Preparing for your appointment
- avoid sunbathing and tanning beforehand
- pause strong exfoliating products for a few days, unless advised otherwise
- arrive without make-up if possible
Aftercare
- use a gentle cleanser and a light, non-comedogenic moisturiser
- apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every day
- avoid scrubs and very hot water for a few days
